Aloha! Maui marks our first vacation in 2018, and we are here to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary.
We’ve landed in Maui on Wednesday, just before noon. From the plane, the island looked untouched by civilization and covered in lush moss green and palm trees with no high-rises in sight. The weather was beautiful 75-degree with a light breeze. The only activity on our agenda for the day was a lunch reservation at Mama’s Fish House in Paia. (Unlike our past trips where we tried to maximize every minute, this time it’s all about rest and relaxation. It was both strange and refreshing for us to not have a jam-packed itinerary!) The restaurant, known for its daily locally caught seafood, came highly recommended by several of our friends and colleagues, as well as travel sites. We ordered grilled octopus and fried mahimahi rolls for appetizer, and steamed snapper and seared Kona Kanpachi for entree. The dishes were wonderfully prepared and the ambiance was pleasant, although expensive even by the Bay Area standard! 😋😋

We took easy rest of the Wednesday; after a satisfying three-hour nap, we explored the grounds of our hotel: The Grand Wailea and had a light dinner at the nearby Four Seasons, before turning in.

If Wednesday was a “taking it easy” day, Thursday was relaxation in full swing. We spent most of the day by the pool, reading, swimming, and enjoying the sun — which doesn’t make this an exciting blog to read, but oh well…

That’s it for now! Today (Friday) we’ll actually get out of the resort and do stuff. More to come later!
