Seattle, WA — Day 2 “Fat Bellies”

Sunday morning after breakfast we walked over to Pike Place Market. We were on a mission to find fresh seafood, for Mark is going to make us a dinner feast!

At the market, we watched fishmongers carry out the freshest catch of the day and sampled the famous Russian pastries from Piroshky, Piroshky; we took pictures of the waterfront, posed with Rachel the Piggybank, and visited the original Starbucks. Finally, at noon we left the market satisfied with our haul: an assortment of wild caught king salmon, halibut, scallops, and jumbo shrimps.

In the afternoon, we ubered to Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room, where coffee-making is more like a science experiment. At the 15,000-square-foot Roastery, one can enjoy specialty beverage and food menu as well as coffee brewed a variety of ways; watch the entire process of coffee-making; and buy coffee gadgets and souvenirs. We ordered and enjoyed a few items, including an affogato, an espresso flight, and a whisky barrel-aged cold brew.

To work off our caffeine jitters, we cabbed to Kerry Park for the famous view of the Seattle downtown, and from there, walked to Myrtle Edwards Park, one of the many recreational parks in the city, by the Elliot Bay waterfront, then all the way back to our condo.

For dinner, Mark and Katy prepared a seafood medley. Katy prepped while Mark, the master chef, seared the fish, shrimp and scallops we bought earlier. Mark loves seafood and he loves cooking for people — nothing makes him more happy than making a seafood dinner for his family. And there is nothing we love more than having a free, delicious meal! We all agreed that dinner was better than anything we could’ve gotten at a restaurant.

Tomorrow we will get out of downtown for a bit and enjoy the abundance of nature Seattle has to offer.

Enjoyed Day2 blog. The pictures tell all. You are certainly enjoying yourselves. I envy the food. But missed any “yum, yums” from you. Can’t wait until Day3 comes.
